The Rivers State Police Command has announced the arrest of three members of the gang, suspected to be involved in the the gruesome murder of two police officers who were attacked while conducting a stop-and-search operation within the Aluu Division.


The suspects, all natives of Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers state, include 34 years old Maduabuchi Emeka alias “Doctor,” 42 years old Chinedu Owhor 28 years old Kamachi Joe, were reported to have attacked the police officers on 29th June, 2026, killing two of them and inflicting an injury on one, which caused him to be amputated.


A statement by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Agabe Blessing, said the arrest followed the directives of the Commissioner P Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, that all operational and intelligence assets of the Command be deployed to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators and the recovery of the stolen police firearms.


“Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, operatives of the Command’s violence crime response unit VCRU, (AKU) through credible intelligence and sustained tactical operations, arrested three members of the gang. Exhibit recovered in total includes: Three AK- 47 rifles and one scorpion rifle. The suspect has also linked other murder cases currently under investigation”, she said.


Agabe added that intensive efforts were on to apprehend the fourth member of the gang, who is currently at large.


“The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism, courage, gallantly and dedication, noting that the breakthrough demonstrates the Command’s resolve to ensure that those who attack police officers or engage in violent crimes have no hiding place in Rivers State.


“He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to the initiative of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, in protecting lives and property and bringing all criminal elements to justice.


“The Commissioner of Police further warned all involved in crime that the long arm of the law will catch up with them advising them to immediately desist or face the full weight of the law.

He emphasized that Rivers State is not a safe haven for criminals and the Command remains resolute in identifying, arresting and prosecuting anyone who threatens the peace and security of the State.


“The Cp urged residents to sustain their partnership with the Command by providing timely and credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance public safety across Rivers State”, the statement added.
